01 / The rule
Wind in Ears will contain exactly one hundred numbered roadside encounters. W/100 is the final entry. The site will remain, but no W/101 will follow.
Each number belongs to an encounter, not an individual photograph. A single passage may become one frame, a diptych, or a triptych and still counts once. If the same passenger returns years later, that return may deepen the original entry rather than hurry the archive toward its end.
02 / Why it closes
Without an ending, collecting can become habit. The hundredth window turns accumulation into form.
The limit gives each sighting weight and lets chance determine the pace. There is no target date, release schedule, or scramble for completion. The work moves at the speed of red lights, adjacent lanes, and being fortunate enough to look over at the right moment.
03 / Method

- Numbering
- One distinct encounter, one archive number—regardless of how many frames survive the edit.
- Selection
- Field reports are invitations, never automatic additions. Every public entry is selected and edited by Jamie.
- Privacy
- License plates are obscured and locations remain approximate. Recognition reports stay private; a Return Signal appears only after verification and explicit permission.
- Closure
- At W/100, the numbered sequence closes permanently and becomes the basis for a book and exhibition.
