01 / What arrives
Wind in Ears collects only what you choose to send through a dispatch signup, Field Report, or Return Signal.
That can include an email address, a name, an approximate location and date, a message, a photograph, and the permissions you select. The site also receives ordinary technical request information needed to deliver and protect the service. Precise locations are not requested for public display.
02 / What happens next
Contact details stay private. Nothing submitted becomes part of the public archive automatically.
Email addresses are used only to confirm and send the Wind in Ears dispatch or to reply about a report. They are never sold or used for unrelated marketing. Photographs and reports enter Jamie’s private review queue. If selected, a photograph may be cropped, prepared, or have identifying details obscured before appearing in the archive or a Wind in Ears social post. Photographer credit is included when supplied.
03 / Storage, choice, deletion

- Service providers
- Hosting, private database and image storage are provided through the site platform; Resend delivers project email. These services process information only to operate the project.
- Retention
- Subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe. Unselected reports and private correspondence are reviewed periodically and removed when no longer useful to the archive or required for its integrity.
- Your choice
- Dispatch emails include a one-click unsubscribe link. Public passenger details from a Return Signal require a separate, optional permission and verification.
- Questions or deletion
- Reply to any Wind in Ears email, or send a Field Report with a reply address and a deletion request in the notes. Include the report reference if you have it.
